Located on John F. Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City, NJ Saint Peter’s University comprises 30 acres and has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 full-time and part-time students. In January 2008, the University joined more than 650 others in signing the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) to acknowledge that Saint Peter’s University will continue to be an early adopter of environmentally friendly solutions. R3 Energy provides assistance to the University on data collection and documentation for the ACUPCC, including the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory and the Climate Action Plan.

To help Saint Peter’s University reach its ambitious goals in energy efficiency, R3 Energy implemented New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program Pay for Performance (NJCEP P4P) for the West Campus. As a P4P partner, R3 Energy was able to clearly identify energy saving measures through an intensive energy audit and the Energy Reduction Plan created for the West Campus.

R3 Energy assisted in meeting a minimum of a 15% reduction in energy usage. The HVAC measures for the P4P project include upgrading the campus Building Management System, installing variable frequency drives (VFDs), high efficiency absorption chiller, replacement of existing steam boilers to a high efficiency hot water system. Other measures include an upgrade of facility lighting, weather-stripping and steam trap replacement. In addition, the campus now features a 320kW Cogeneration system expected to generate over 2 million kWh on- site. Construction Technology Corporation assisted as the Construction Manager on the P4P project and ENER-G Group Inc., part of ENER-G global group of companies, supplied the Cogeneration equipment and also provided Third Party financing for the P4P project.
