Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS)


R3 Energy and their teaming partners can help your organisation comply with ESOS. ESOS is EU legislation which essentially is a mandatory programme of energy audits for 'large enterprises'.

Large enterprises are being defined as:
  • Organisations with at least 250 staff
  • -or-
  • A turnover of more than £40 million, and
  • An annual balance sheet in excess of £34.4 million
Corporate groups qualify if at least one UK group member is a large undertaking.

Are there exemptions?
  • Yes, such as if your Organisation is ISO 50001 Certified or if your Organisation is subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2006.
  • Contact us for other possible custom exemptions that could occur with your building.

Are there penalties for not complying?
  • Yes. It has been cited failure to undertake an ESOS assessment may result in penalties.

Phase 1 Assessment:

Initial consultation leading to plan for ESOS audit:
  • Review organisational structure - confirm eligibility for ESOS
  • Review historic energy audits
  • Agree reference period to include 31 December 2014
  • Identify key staff and their role in data collection

Outputs:
  • ESOS scoping report and bespoke plan based on information gathered
  • Quotation for bespoke route to compliance with compliance milestones
  • Sampling approach to auditing if required
